Most cars today have some form of active or adaptive cruise-control that can sense impending collisions and automatically brake for you. Porsche is looking to make all those other cruise-controls look like child’s play by the end of the decade.
Porsche is in the works on creating what they are calling “InnoDrive,” a form of autonomous driving that takes in account the grade of the pavement as well as the radius of an upcoming turn. Now, you might think “what’s so impressive about the turning aspect of the cruise-control?” — The cruise-control will be able to take the turn at up to 0.70g! That’s more force than the usual driver takes on when making turns and will give even the most experienced driver a kick in the pants.
Porsche claims the goal of “InnoDrive” is to help the driver to their destination quickly, while using the least amount of fuel. We are just happy that cruise-control will actually be fun to use again!
