When Revatu Customs Says “Locomotorcycle,” They Mean It

We at Odometer are huge fans of custom cars and custom bikes alike, and this one definitely struck our fancy. Netherlands based custom bike shop Revatu Customs created this beauty, which is appropriately named “Black Pearl.” Before you fall completely head-over-heels for this beautiful beast, though, there’s an important piece of information to keep in mind. She is, in a word — slow, but the reason will surprise you.
The Pearl’s monstrously cool look is clearly inspired by the locomotive, including a functioning bell and steam horn, and even an exposed crankshaft that rotates the rear wheel by means of a pivot. And yes, you may have guessed it, underneath the literal bell and whistle is a fully functional steam engine. Capable of maxing out at five miles per hour, this mechanical feat makes brilliant use of old-fashioned mechanics. While its creator Rene van Tuil cannot necessarily tear down main street with this bike, his take on the ‘Locomotorcycle,’ as his fans have dubbed it, is something worthwhile to take in nice and slowly.
