Ricky Bobby would be proud. Let's hope his dad didn't find out.
Remember that scene from Ricky Bobby when kid Ricky steals his mom’s station wagon while she goes into the store for a quart of milk? Well let me raise you one 16-year-old stealing his dad’s Fox Body Mustang, a fistful of bills, and winning a street race. Except this story actually happened.

As explained by YouTuber ActiveHoodRich who filmed the race, he gives the backstory of an unnamed kid who wanted to get his feet wet as a street racer to earn some extra cash and show off his to his girlfriend. So when his father left town, the boy got the idea to take the $500 his dad stashed away, and the keys to his stock Fox Body. It’s the ultimate underdog story and the stuff of 80s movies. Thing is, this kid didn’t just want to go out for a joyride, he wanted to make his daddy proud and make him some extra cash on the side. So he bet the car and the $500 against…a clean Cadillac CTS V, boasting a healthy 650 horsepower. His vintage Fox Body on the other hand? 220 horses.

I mean don’t get me wrong, the Fox Body is a sweet looking ride but this was a no contest David versus Goliath story. Muscle versus luxury. The OP gives the backstory in the video but to see the actual race just skip to 4:30. It’s a sight to see. You can watch the video here. The V’s LED headlights burn nice and bright on the straight away but get easily passed by the Mustang by car lengths. Rick Bobby would be proud. Let’s hope his dad isn’t too mad when he finds his own car on YouTube. That 5.0 surely pulled it off.
