Batman has been around since 1939 and he has had plenty of awesome cars along the way. Ranging from very simple designs to some insane futuristic concepts, these are the 13 best Batmobiles that we wish we could get behind the wheel of!
The First Batmobile (1941)
Everyone remembers their first car, and Batman fans are no different. Besides a small gold hood ornament, there were no other distinct features on the 1941 Batmobile that stood out compared with the models to follow. However, it did sport a heavily reinforced nose that was capable of smashing through buildings without sustaining any damage.
Comic Books (1958)
The "bubble dome" Batmobile was introduced in 1958 and was based off of the 1957 Chrysler 300c. The giant fin on the roof and the battering ram on the nose were featured on previous Batmobiles, but this one had more of an updated feel at the time.
Batman: TV Series (1966)
The Batmobile featured in the 1960s TV show is one of the most iconic of the franchise. The combination of its sleek design along with the futuristic gadgets that were packed inside make this Batmobile one of the all-time best.
“Superfriends” Batmobile (1973)
Borrowing the design of the live-action TV series, the Batmobile featured in the "Superfriends" cartoon was sporty and sleek. The additional bubble windshields and the bright-yellow bat emblem were nice touches that make this design a favorite.
Batman (1989)
Tim Burton gave us one of the first truly futuristic Batmobile designs in 1989. The bat wings on the back along with the turbine engine on the nose made this a real game-changer. While the gadgets inside were relatively simple, they proved to be very potent.
Batman: The Animated Series (1992)
Any kid who grew up in the 90s will remember this one. The Batmobile featured in "Batman: The Animated Series" followed along with the darker, gothic features of the "Dark Knight" comics. Packed with tons of technology and a more rounded body, this Batmobile will be remembered as one of the best.
Batman Forever (1995)
Even though the movie was a flop, the Batmobile featured in this 1995 film was still pretty cool. Following along with the Tim Burton styling of 1989, this Batmobile had strong features, including the sharp wings on the rear and the bat logo on the wheels. But, despite having many defenses, it was destroyed halfway through the movie.
Batman And Robin (1997)
Just a slight upgrade from the design used in "Batman Forever," this Batmobile featured a more prominent bat logo on the front end with a longer frame. Still, it's hard to deny that this Batmobile was pretty amazing.
The New Batman Adventures (1997)
Besides the split windshield and the fins coming off the back, this Batmobile is different than any other of its kind. With fewer insane gadgets and bright markings, this model is definitely simpler, but its basic design is what makes it stand out compared to the others.
Batman Begins (2005)
When Christopher Nolan took over the franchise, he made a bold statement with his new design of the Batmobile. The "Tumbler" has features that were based off military-grade vehicles and had more of a modern look to it, which fit perfectly for how Nolan wanted to reinvent the franchise.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Ok, this isn't technically a Batmobile, but the Batpod needs to be included here. This combat-ready motorcycle could be ejected from the "Tumbler" whenever Batman was in a tight spot and needed to continue a chase. It was also featured in "The Dark Knight Rises" in 2012.
Batman: Arkham Knight (2015)
This Batmobile is the only video game car listed here (and for good reason). Styled similar to the "Tumbler," this epic beast packs tons of tech inside. It was also the first Batmobile that players could actually use in-game.
Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016)
Although this Batmobile has yet to be seen in action, the design is worthy enough to warrant inclusion here. The look is more aggressive than the one Christopher Nolan used in his films. However, not much has been released about the gadgets or weapons included, so we will just have to wait for now!
