8 New Car Techs You Could Have On Your Next Car

These car features are straight out of a "James Bond" film. Options that our grandparents would have only laughed at as completely absurd, are now potential options for your next vehicle. Which of these would you like to become standard?

Laser Headlights

They are much brighter and 30 percent more efficient then standard LED lights. BMW is already going to offer them on their new i8. The diodes are also lighter and smaller than other forms of light.

Airless Tires

This has been in the making for years and years. These tires cannot loose air pressure or get punctured. The focus for this technology currently is military and smaller vehicles, but there is also some hope that they may be coming to our vehicles in the distant future.

Traffic Light Recognition

This technology would link your vehicles on board computer to the cities traffic light network. It could tell you how much time until a stoplight turns green. It could also tell you what speed–within the speed limit of course–to go to make it through the next light before it turns red on you. This means no more slamming on your breaks or running a red light because you “think” you can make it.

Self-Parking

You would be able to park your car from outside the vehicle. Yes, that is right. You would be able to get out at a parking garage or a parking lot and your car would be able to park itself, due to its sensors. No more driving around packed lots looking for that last spot. No more circling and waiting for that large family to finally get everyone in and buckled before you can park.

Wireless Charging

Would allow you to get in your car and your car would detect your devices. It would then be able to charge them wirelessly at about the same rate as a standard charger. Delphi Automotive debuted their technology, although unfinished, a couple years ago. It is not yet ready for the market.

Car-to-Car Communication

Cars communicating with each other. A car up ahead could warn you of a recent crash or road closure. You could then re-route or have time to stop in advance. This technology is just what everyone has been waiting for.

Hydrophobic Windows

This glass is self-cleaning. It is made of a material that keeps itself dirt and grim free. It cleans with just water.

Super Capacitor Body Panels

Batteries that offer as much power as we are demanding of our bulky, heavy vehicles of today. Volvo has an idea to get rid of standard car batteries altogether. They are proposing a material that integrates super capacitors and nano-strucured batteries with carbon-fiber. Volvo has already manufactured a prototype with this technology.
