Way back in 1986, Saturday Night Live made one of its signature fake commercials for a car called The Adobe, a cheap car made of clay. It’s hard to believe, but someone may have taken the styling of that car and turned into a real car…almost.
YouTuber Spinalsign5357 has modified his Mitsubishi Eclipse beyond all recognition and frankly, it’s not for the better. In fact, we’re not sure what he is thinking. The car is covered in a layer of sand that makes it look like SNL’s Adobe, but it also has weird attachments all over that don’t appear to serve any purpose, just ornamental. But usually, if you are going to do things that are purely ornamental, it’s things like cool custom hood ornaments or truck nuts. These are more like…shower drains and gargoyles. Are they gargoyles? It’s hard to tell and harder to keep looking at. Is that a seashell? The diamond plating is way over the top too. So is the (likely) fake exhaust pipe.

Spinalsign5357 himself isn’t without his detractors either, and for reasons that are worse than simply building an ugly ride.
On a subreddit about ugly car mods, Spinalsign5357 has taken a virtual beating over this car. Users are calling him a liar about the design of the engine in the car, which he claims is a “twin engine.” Apparently, not only does this guy know how to make his car into the worst moving sand castle we’ve ever seen, but seems to be a fan of fabricating lies about its ability, as well as selling other people’s content and trying to pass them as his own.
And yes, the custom “style” is attacked too.
We are impressed though. It takes serious dedication and hard work to mod a car this extensively and for that, Spinalsign5357 deserves some props.
Just don’t expect us to give props for the final product.
Ever.
Here’s a video showing the many…interesting angles…
