Reddit user newtrawn was excited when he bought and brought home a snowmobile for far less than the recommended price.

The only catch was that the engine made a slight knocking noise, but he wasn’t concerned. A quick repair, and the sled should be good to go, right? Wrong. What started out as a fun little project became a lot more complicated pretty quickly.

After opening up the engine, it was obvious that the sled, which had once looked like a bargain, was anything but. The source of the knock was that at some point, the sled’s engine had completely lacked oil, and had melted almost all of the connecting rod bearings and ruined the crank. Now, the owner has ordered a new crank, rods, a new oil pump, main bearings, rings, rod bearings, and a gasket kit. Talk about a fixer-upper!
