This Lift Looks Like It’s From The Distant Future

Photographer Nick Frank takes a stark, minimalist approach to composition that often reveals bold features of shape, structure and space. For instance, when taking these shots of the unique Munich subway system, or U-Bahn, he arrived at around 5:30 on a Sunday in order to see the place as empty as possible, free from the distractions of scuttling passengers and the like.

The result of this photography “strategy” is undeniably fascinating, and in a bizarre way, beautiful. The U-Bahn system, which went into operation in 1971 prior to the ’72 Munich Olympics, features fascinating futuristic design, intended to “help make a passenger’s wait more pleasant.”
What do you think? Would you prefer a commute that took you through places like these?
